Beauty Meets The Bizarre
- Beauty Meets The Bizarre
Artworks created for a group exhibition - "It takes a true optimist to see the beauty through the dark heart of things." -- Ross Horsley
Beauty Meets the Bizarre - 15 artists explored contrasting themes, from light and dark, to the ethereal and the macabre, to the delicate and disgusting. The diverse range was united by a single aesthetic: wood.
These two pieces are based on the beautiful and bizarre nature of life and death. Flipping and warping the contrasting but complimentary roles to explore the mystery of life and death. In the Flower piece, life gives birth to death and in the skull piece death decorates and amuses itself with life.
The transparent blue elements show through to the subtle woodgrain suggesting the elusive nature of time and how nothing lasts forever.
